Made in China

Have you noticed that? Majority of all the products I see has that tag, “Made in China”. Every time I see those tags, I always say to myself, “it’s all about China”. Well, labor force and resources are much cheaper compared to its competitors’. Could they also be the next world power almost finished in the making? Who knows what surprises tomorrow bring. But don’t be surprised. A poisonous antifreeze chemical, diethylene glycol (DEG), is discovered in Chinese-made toothpastes seized at border and later in the products sold at three locations in Miami, the Port of Los Angeles and Puerto Rico by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the advice last Friday. The officials have not yet discovered any case of poisoning by such toothpastes but warned the product has “low but meaningful risk of toxicity” among children and people with kidney and liver disease that the US health officials have asked consumers to stop using and throw away the tubes they might have already purchased. The seizure of tainted toothpaste was the most recent in a series of scares over the safety of locally made products, that have put China’s food and drug exports under scrutiny around the world.
