Moon glows in early light show: Total eclipse of the moon.

yahoo photoIf you're willing to get up in the small hours of Tuesday morning, that's something like what you'll see on the face of the full moon during the total lunar eclipse. Shades of orange and ochre should flit across the lunar surface, infusing its usual gray with an autumn-colored blush.

The show starts about 2:50 a.m. and runs a good 90 minutes, about as long as many movies these days. But this flick is free, other than the cost of a little lost sleep.

"The color on the moon is from the glow of sunsets and sunrises all over the Earth," she said. "That's what's being reflected onto the moon and causing that red color. Isn't that awesome?"
