So many things are happening this week. I might not be home but I am rejoicing with my family for the blessings they have in there and offer thanksgiving for all the good things we have and received. A bit late but my youngest sister who is "the fairest of them all" graduated from the college of nursing. She will be the second Nurse in the family next to my eldest sister, of whom we are proud. My sister who works in Dubai also went home and attended to her graduation, and with my husband's support, had undergone successful medical operation. We feel blessed as one of my sisters got her first van and so of the family. The 29th was Gaga's 22nd birthday, and yesterday was my dad's. God has been so good to our lives we can not stop giving thanks. It is kind of "I'm the only one who is not there" and they are having reunion; how I loved those times when all of us just gathered around lying down on bed and talked or even argued some. Five of us sister even my two brothers and mom, sometimes when at home, with my dad. Sighing; It's so fun to have many siblings! This week, I have been on the verge of something but I know He will take care of it since it will be used for His glory. As hubby told me, just have to be patient and trusting. It will be so great a blessing for our church and family then. I could never stop thanking God for giving me such a big-hearted man. He is flying to Qatar right now in business class just for the invitation to eat steak. God is good, ever more than good.

U.S. Raising Citizenship and Green Card Fees by 66% on average starting July 30. The step made final an increase first proposed in January 31 what they do now under a plan that immigration officials promised will make the nation's chief immigration agency more efficient.
Among the many fees that will rise:
- United States citizenship increases 66%, from $405 to $675
(Including the $80 required for electronic fingerprints, an increase of $10). - Legal permanent residency increase 155%, from $395 to $1,010.
- The cost of work permits would rise 88%, from $180 to $340.
Immigration officials defend the fee system, saying it provides spending flexibility, since revenues go up in proportion to any rise in applications. They say that previous fee hikes have not resulted in drastic reductions in applications for residency or citizenship.
The agency said it would use the additional revenue to improve service efficiency, upgrade its buildings, improve offices, hire 1,500 workers, and for computer equipments and systems to allow the agency to move from a paper-based to electronic system to process applications, and officials promised to reduce the average time for processing visa applications by 20 percent by the fall of 2009.
Agency Director Emilio Gonzales, said the fee-dependent agency needs the cash infusion to improve services, and he promised ''substantial reductions'' in the time it takes to process an application."This agency is fee based, 99 per cent of our budget comes from user fees. We need to be the agency people expect us to be. We need to undertake reforms.... The only way to get from there to here is to have the financial resources to do that," CIS Director Emilio Gonzalez said Tuesday.
The agency also said it would waive fees for victims of human trafficking, for refugees who are granted asylum in the United States, for some teenage immigrants and for immigrants fleeing domestic abuse who seek residency under the terms of the Violence Against Women Act.
"We are seeing coyote [smuggler] fees go up to $1500 to $2500 per person,” said Mr. King. “I do not see any fees levied by USCIS that were that high. So if it is cheaper to have access to becoming a citizen than it is to be transported [illegally] to the United States, then, no, I do not think those fees are too high by comparison."
That's quiet an increase; glad we are not affected that much, case has been pending that long though, maybe it will be sooner. It's ok.
The new fees were to be published this week in the Federal Register and also were posted on the Citizenship and Immigration Services Web site.

Just want to write what has happened few hours ago which excited all of us here. My cat was panicking around, I wonder why, then I heard the door bell rung. Possibility 1: Mail lady/man. Last possibility, my mother-in-law, but it is unlikely. So when I get out of here to see who was it, I grabbed my stun gun, peek at the hole and open the door. A teenage girl whom I haven't seen before. Oh OK, she introduced herself: Tanner's girlfriend Morgan's sister. But these days anyone would pretend right, just to gain entrance to anybody's house. So I had made her call Morgan. Though she talked to her on the phone already, asking for the location of the softball, I was still hesitant. I was in dilemma whether to call my husband or not, since it's sleeping time and I know he is tired just to be disturb with a "trivial" matter. To my relief, my father-in-law called if anything was OK in the house for he saw a guy and a girl coming in and out of the car. So I made him get my mother-in-law to the house. The lady is really Morgan's sister and so she got the softballs. We just laughed in the end as I was still holding the the key and stun gun, at least not the little shot gun in the closet. But they understood it. After all, it pays to be defensively careful, right?

My favorite fruit is not really here but it is the apple. Apples clean my body, improve my bowels, makes my skin healthy, and freshens the angel's breath, hehe. It improves appetite after cleaning my body. When I travel and when I am sick, I just eat apples.
So of the three above, the one on top is mango, katong tam-ison, the sweetest kind, but if sour, sawsaw lang sa suka or uyap. hmmhhmm. mas lami xa sa tulo.

I was not able to watch it live but the e-news says Lotis, i mean, Japan’s Riyo Mori wins the Miss Universe 2007 :-). The last time Japan won the pageant was in 1959 when Akiko Kojima became the first Miss Universe from Asia. The winner is Asian. Great. That’s good news beside the bad one that Japan minister hangs self amid scandals on Monday, hours before he was to face questioning in parliament. He became the first serving Cabinet member to kill himself since World War II. Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the industrialized world. More than 32,000 people took their own lives in 2004. The country also has a deep-rooted tradition of ritual suicide, which was considered a way to restore one's honor or take responsibility for failings in feudal Japan. Life is beautiful and will be just a waste if ended that way. As always, what we believe on makes a very big inclination on our bearing in the course of our precious life. And as what was commented on her, she’s an amazing winner, a winner indeed, that’s once in a lifetime achievement. Some say it’s vanity. Just the cause they have been doing for the poor people from it is what that counts!

When you hear someone say "Once in a Blue Moon…" you know what he or she means: Rare. Seldom. Maybe even absurd. After all, when was the last time you saw the moon turn blue?
Step outside at sunset on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 9:04 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (6:04 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, 8:04 my time), because there's going to be a Blue Moon for North Americans this month. But for those living in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, that same full Moon occurs after midnight, on the calendar date of June 1. So in these regions of world, this will not be second of two full Moons in May, but the first of two full Moons in June. So, if (for example) you live in Philippines, you'll have to wait until June 30 to declare that the Moon is "officially" blue.
But why blue? Will it really be blue? Probably not. The full Moon that night will likely look no different than any other full Moon. The date of a full moon, all by itself, doesn't affect the moon's color. Except that according to the popular definition, it will be the second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month. But the Moon can change color in certain conditions. The most obvious meaning of blue moon is when the moon (not necessarily a full moon) appears to a casual observer to be unusually bluish or even lavender hue, which is a rare event. Unless....
Soot and ash particles, deposited high in the Earth's atmosphere can sometimes make the Moon appear bluish. Smoke from widespread forest fire activity in western Canada and created a blue Moon across eastern North America in late September 1950 and Sweden in 1951. The eruption of Indonesian volcano Krakatoa in 1883 caused the moon to appear blue for nearly two years. Ash and dust clouds thrown into the atmosphere by fires and storms usually contain a mixture of particles with a wide range of sizes. Most are smaller than 1 micron, and they tend to scatter blue light. This kind of cloud makes the Moon turn red; indeed, red Blue Moons are far more common than blue Blue Moons. But some of the ash-clouds were filled with particles about 1 micron (one millionth of a meter) wide--the right size to strongly scatter red light (0.7 micron)--, and no other sizes present, while allowing other colors to pass. White moonbeams shining through the clouds emerged blue, and sometimes green. The ash caused "such vivid red sunsets that fire engines were called out in New York. This is rare, but volcanoes sometimes spit out such clouds, as do forest fires. In the aftermath of the massive eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines in June 1991 there were reports of blue moons (and even blue Suns, and noctilucent clouds) worldwide.
Calendar blue moons occur infrequently, and the saying once in a blue moon is used to describe a rare event. However, they are inevitable because of the mis-match between the solar and lunar cycles. Each calendar year contains 12 full lunar cycles, plus about 11 days to spare. The extra days accumulate, so that while most years contain 12 full moons to match the 12 months, every 2 or 3 years there is a year with 13 full moons. On average, this happens once every 2.72 years.
The average interval between Full Moons is about 29.5 days, whilst the length of an average month is roughly 30.5 days. This makes it very unlikely that any given month will contain two Full Moons, though it does sometimes happen. On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.
The rule might have evolved out of the fact that the word "belewe" came from the Old English, ("Yf they say the mone is belewe / We must beleve that it is true" [If they say the moon is blue, we must believe that it is true]), meaning, "to betray." "Perhaps," one suggested, "the second full Moon is 'belewe' because it betrays the usual perception of one full moon per month." In the 19th century, the phrase until a blue moon developed, meaning "never." The phrase, once in a blue moon today has come to mean "every now and then" or "rarely"—whether it gained that meaning through association with the lunar event remains uncertain.
Over the next twenty years there will be a total of 17 blue moons, with an almost equal number of both types of blue moons occurring. No blue moon of any kind will occur in the years 2006, 2011, 2014, and 2017.
The more recent phenomenon, where the blue moon is considered to be the second full moon in a calendar month, last occurred on July 31, 2004. Two full moons in one month may occur in any month out of the year except for February, which is shorter than the lunar cycle.
Twice in a Blue Moon
The rare phenomenon of two blue moons (using the more recent definition) occurring in the same year happens approximately once every 19 years. 1999 was the last time a blue moon appeared twice, in January and March.
The months of the double blue moons are almost always January and March. That is because the short month that falls in between them, February, is a key ingredient in this once-every-nineteen-year phenomenon. For January and March to each have two full moons, it's necessary for February to have none at all. Since February is usually 28 days long, and the average span between full moons is 29.5 days, if a full moon occurs at the end of January, it's possible for the next full moon to skip February entirely and fall in the beginning of March.
Absurd? Yes, but that's what a Blue Moon is all about. Step outside at sunset on May 31st, look east, and see for yourself..
Above: One way to make a blue moon: use a blue filter. That's what Kostian Iftica did on July 2nd when he photographed this full moon rising over Brighton, Mass. Excerpts from different researches :-).

When I was about ready to get inside the house after cleaning the mower with the threatening rain in the skies, I was looking for Lady Gishi, my cat. Gonna bring her inside already. The storm threat was gone with the wind, and there I found her lying in the metal sheets facing Mrs. Ugly, my father-in-law's cat from a short distance. As we have observed several times, they just stand afar and face each other without any motion or "meow". It's just that time that I come to observe them closely and I discover a funny yet not funny thing. Every time Mrs. Ugly pose to come near her, Lady Gishi, to my surprise, would growl and hiss fiercely at the older cat. Gosh, my cat is defensively brave!! It is my cat after all who hubby once heard growled and almost fight Mrs. Ugly. Well, good for you Gishi! At least, other creatures won't take her easy. I was sitting there for long looking at them that when I looked up, Miss Fat cat, Mrs. Ugly's daugther was also there in the distance observing the two as Mrs. Ugly tried to come near again. After many rounds of walking very very slowly around me and Lady Gishi, Mrs. Ugly was not able to come near my cat. She is just not used in having other felines like her around. But the other two cats are also something else. Both of them are females and had been worked on. Maybe one feline day, they will be good cat friends.

As a tourist, the first two things I had had with me always when touring around Mumbai (Bombay), were of course my passport and guess what, my camera. Hubby's client volunteered his driver for my benefit. We were leaving Sanjay Gandhi Nature Park when caught by traffic which was common in the streets. A street boy, beggar, knocked on my side of the door. Honestly I could not recall if I gave anything, but I took a picture of him through the shield which made him stood straight to pose. Sometimes it's a relief when they go away after a very forceful encounter. To my surprise, he came back with another boy, and I realized, they wanted to be photographed. Humbling, but the smile and happiness in the boy's face just to be photographed was so pure, despite the black eye he got. Sad, but there were many of them fellas. I might have not given them something but I'm sure I made them happy, even just for a while. 2006

According to the calendar, it will be "observed" Monday. But when I go with my mother-in-law today to buy fish fry in a building across the highway opposite the grave yard, there I saw the spirit of commemorating the veterans 6 feet below the ground there. If I had bothered to count the flags waving with the cool wind, maybe I am not yet finished by now, counting also the women's ear rings in the form of the US Flag. Memorial Day! Such great lives spent for the freedom of those behind them. It's always good to look back sometimes and see if we are on tract. Bless those who are on the battlefields!Labels: personal

And so this tag thing; this time from Rainel.
Six sites I visit everyday.
- My Yahoo Mail for obvious reasons and to Yahoo Finance to see stock changes with hubby.
- Blogger.com to log in to my web log, this very one, make new post, pour out thoughts and musings or see what's up.
- Ah, of course, friendster.com where my old/new friends, brethren, and relatives reconnect and update with me.
- If I want a quick summary for web stats for my blog, I go to map stats. There I can see how people come to find and see my blog. I like to read it for I see what phrases people are "googling" to finally land on my blog; some phrases are funny, and some are strange. Imagine that one landed to my blog by searching for phrase "Filipina mother-in-law acting strange".
- Immigration forums website. Just for personal information and sharing.
- And sometimes just browse around blog spot, to see what they world is blogging about, and find interesting ideas; and some belly dance sites and other stores that hubby and I find, and to add, just "google"ing around for some interesting subjects.
Maybe have to end this here for now. Just pass this on when there are catchers :-) ..

Number one in my list of standards or qualifications for what my future partner must be was religion. Not only because we were always taught and lectured to yoke with believers or engage with the ones of same faith as us, but also because I have seen it with my own eyes the issues and conflicts in the family that could have been easier and happier should they have the same inclination. I have so strong convictions of my faith that I will not give it up just to marry a man who has different faith as me. Maybe just a matter of personal principles, but I really know what I believe. So if he wouldn’t not pass number one, there would never be other chances I would look into no matter all the points below it were all checked. To compliment, I didn’t want him either to convert just to be with me, to marry me. I want to see him as a man of strong principles in life and hold fast that what he believes. Maybe I’m just different but that’s me, and the man I had been praying for. I just can't contain my gratitude then when God gave the exact man and even more than what I had prayed for. Sometimes, it pays to hold fast that which we base our principles in life with, on faith and love.

So ill this morning that we didn't finish our grocery shopping my mother-in-law had to take us back home. Hurting to another level I thought for the first time in my life I would lose consciousness. Never had I collapsed before. I always take myself as so healthy. Smiling with resignation, I was actually thinking if I die today, the thing that came to my mind was "will they see good in me?" As always, the good that we do is the one that always matter in the end. Gosh. Maybe I was close that I thought that. I always believe that a person knows in his heart his final time that sometimes he would show signs we never had a clue of. And I remember I wrote one thing of that sort but I eventually erased it, why maybe because it was deep and in myself I was saying "not yet, Lord". I just hate to worry Sis, and don't wanna be a burden. Going to hospital is another thing. But glad it didn't come to that, and hopefully, positively will not. So much better now.

An angel was sent
From God up above
She came unto me
Like a beautiful dove
So loving and kind
So pure and sweet
I cried "thank you Lord Jesus"
As i knelt at his feet
Her beauty intoxicates me
I love her so much
I am putty in her hands
I melt at her touch
Our love is so deep
Our love is so strong
With her by my side
I can never go wrong
As i close my eyes
And dream of her kiss
My heart is so heavy
Oh sweetheart your missed!
For years i did pray
Thinking no one would notice
But God blessed me for eternity
With my darling wife Lotis
This is one proud man
That will devote his life
To my beautiful princess
Please honey, be my wife
I will love and cherish
Be steadfast and true
Oh my darling Lotis
I am so in love with you!
Please Lord make the days go by
For her kisses still linger
The day can't come fast enough
To put a ring on her finger
Only God can understand
This love in my heart
My Lotis how i love thee
Till death do us part
Be assured of one thing
Tho your so far away
My love for you grows stronger
With each passing day
For my wife Lotis
From your husband Jonathan
Thursday, March 16, 2006, 11:59:29 PM.
i love you honey

To my Mom, the most wonderful mother in the world.
Hi Ma! I dreamed of you recently. I was calling your name and you were there. I can't wait for the "official" day, but everyday day is your day. You might not read this as soon, but please let me write out my gratitude and appreciation for your being a mother to me and for everything that you had set as an example in being a good wife. In my private dreams I had been wishing, but I never anticipated this time that I become a wife myself and fully see and appreciate all the loving and noble things you have done in keeping our family.
Mum I love you so much. I know I have hurt you a lot as I've made so many mistakes, and might be the black sheep there was, but I am really sorry. I know I ain't the best daughter in the world, I might not be every mother's dreams of their daughters, but you're the best mum anyone could ever wish for. I love you. I want to say thank you for bringing me into the world again and again. Thanks for always helping me to remember what is important in life... and today it is you! Mom, you're the best. Thank you for being there in the most trying times of my life where you became my leaning wall. I will never forget those times. Thank you for always being there for us to count on to. Happy Mother's Day. No one can ever emulate your being a mother, to us, to me, no one can be as loving, patient, generous, understanding and strong as you are. You are my mother, I'm proud of you, Ma, you're a great mother and wife. Everyday I cherish the valuable legacy of the good example you showed me. God bless you more and watch over you always. I Miss you all. Happy mother's day!

I got my amended passport today by FedEx. So excited. Things have been going smooth as we planned lately. Louisiana is under the Philippine Consulate in Chicago jurisdiction but the visa service we used submitted my papers to Washington, DC. Embassy, so I guess, it's okay to submit applications there, as the embassy supersedes the consulate, we assume. So, I got my passport in my married name already, future travels will be less a hassle.
Speaking of travels, we had a good day in town today, as we have a number of appointments to come to. At the end of those shopping for the rose garden, eye, dental and hair rendezvous, we stopped by a buffet for lunch. My fortune cookie says:
learn "Filipino": store(n) = tindahan (in my translation);
and it says "travel is in your future"..
I laughed. Yeah, it's surely in my future, and will be as soon as possible when I get my permanent residence card! (Toink!) But we are patient for that. It will come when it is least expected. Just so happy I got my passport amended already.

At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!
