Great day today. Hubby finally arrives! So glad, for I can't avoid to feel anxious about long flights. You must have heard about Google earth, or maybe Google Moon, or Google Mars, eh? All about google, lol. Astromony week! Now, the constellations of Andromeda, Hydra and Vulpecula (who or what are they by the way? Lol, kidding!), are now just a mouse click away for amateur stargazers. Google Earth, a program that allows users to search a 3D rendition of our planet's surface, a great way to search the planet for landmarks, features, and to generally waste time, has a new add-on tool, Google Sky. One click will turn your attention up to the universe. Sky will allow astronomers a chance to glide through images of more than one million stars and 200 million galaxies. Imagery for the system came from six research institutions including the Digital Sky Survey Consortium, the Palomar Observatory in California and the United Kingdom Astronomy Technology Centre. Much of the imagery can be found through searches on the Internet but Google hope the add-on will be simpler and more fun; it is a jolly good thing. The sky you will be seeing will be a completely clear and you will be able to see objects which are very faint indeed - that you can only see with very large telescopes. That is cute, educational and entertaining. Hhmm, I remember my planetarium day. So much grander.

Google Sky is not the only tool that allows astronomers to explore the night sky from their computer. There are already many applications available that allow you to browse the night sky from the comfort of your PC, and many of them have more notes and information. However, some of these apps are commercial and only available for a hefty fee to students or educational institutions. Imaginova's Starry Night offers a range of software packages aimed at beginners to "the serious astronomer". Google Earth, on the other hand, is free. Another is Stellarium, a free open source tool that gives people a chance to access more than 210 million stars, in addition to planets and moons. He has born intelligent but what really made him excelled in the classroom was that extra learning he got, he had Math Tutors so he was always ahead of the class with that advanced academic knowledge and innovation. The meteors that are about to rain down in the early morning of September 1, 2007 date from around 4 A.D.. Our latest calculations indicate Earth is about to cross the dust trail of comet Kiess, a comet that takes some 2000 years to complete one orbit around the Sun. The trail is very narrow, so Earth will be hosed by meteoroids for only about an hour and a half. The meteoroids will approach from the direction of the constellation Auriga, the charioteer, in the north-eastern part of the sky, causing a meteor shower called the "Aurigids."

The shower is visible from only part of the world. If you live in the western parts of the USA, Canada and Mexico, including Hawaii and Alaska, you might spot an Aurigid meteor. Plan to step out around 4 A.M. PDT give or take 20 minutes in the early morning, away from city smog, with the Moon behind an obstruction, and with a wide view on the sky. Gaze up at the sky, waiting, and you may spot one of these elusive bits of matter that Comet Kiess lost 2000 years ago.

This is your only chance to see this shower; the dust trail is not going to hit again in our lifetime. If you spot one of those meteors, you may be only the fourth person alive who is known to have seen this meteor shower. In recent times, the shower was spotted in 1994 by two observers and in 1986 by one observer. If you are lucky enough to catch a picture of an Aurigid meteor using your digital camera, you will be the very first to do so. WASHINGTON - Astronomers have stumbled upon a tremendous hole in the universe.. The cosmic blank spot has no stray stars, no galaxies, no sucking black holes, not even mysterious dark matter. It is 1 billion light years across of nothing. That's an expanse of nearly 6 billion trillion miles of emptiness, a University of Minnesota team announced Thursday.

... said Minnesota astronomy professor Lawrence Rudnick, author of the paper that will be published in Astrophysical Journal. "It's not clear that we have the right word yet ... ( Could it be the bottomless pit?, :-D ) This is too much of a surprise." ... one area of the universe had radio pictures indicating there was up to 45 percent less matter in that region, Rudnick said. The rest of the matter in the radio pictures can be explained as stars and other cosmic structures between here and the void, which is about 5 to 10 billion light years away. Rudnick then checked observations of cosmic microwave background radiation and found a cold spot. The only explanation, Rudnick said, is it's empty of matter.

Retired NASA astronomer Steve Maran said of the discovery: "This is incredibly important for something where there is nothing to it."

My hubby was just finishing the new building before I came here last year. The 73-year-old woman was preparing some food in her western New York home on Monday morning when she dropped a spoon on the floor of her kitchen. Just when she bent down, her house exploded, leveled her home in the Wayne County town of Sodus, on Lake Ontario about 25 miles east of Rochester and because she was bending down when the explosion occurred, the kitchen sink and counter top helped keep debris from hitting her. She wasn't seriously injured. She crawled out from underneath the rubble and walked to her daughter's home nearby to get help. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation; (mao ni ron.) I take that a divine intervention; miracles still happen everyday, it is not just a coincidence, and the dropping of the spoon on the floor is not an accident either.
