Awards for anything

Even though we are abroad, we all look forward to our “legacy”, as my sister called it, in our community, the Watch Night on New Year’s Eve. It’s going to be a real fun, meaningful and memorable party and gathering, also the fact that it is time for reflections, and giving gifts and awards for those who made a great impact during the year. There will be group and individual games, and of course awards for the winners and consolation for those who don’t win. In whatever contests you hold, you can get awards for anything at a one stop shop for plaques, medals, and of course football trophies.

Best Christmas

I am so grateful for having a very wonderful Christmas experience. I spent it with my relatives out of state. I drove all the way to Oklahoma to be with the very fun, kind and loving kinsfolks of mine, no matter how far. I really enjoyed it. A lot of things has happened, and I was so glad of the timing of things, and I was able to be with my aunt and distant cousins, talk and share feelings and stories, and so much fun and laughter together, and memories. It is so fulfilling to reconnect, and trace back our family histories. Oh how they inspired me! I am so ready to start. It was one of the best trips I have taken, even though most of them said they couldn't believe nor wouldn't dare do what I did :) I had no fear, worries or any inhibitions at all, there was just some kind of driving force pulling me to be with my aunt. I went back home so fulfilled and the experience somehow changed some things in me. It was a very positive experience, I thank God for everything. I am thankful for my freedom, and for the best Christmas I have spent away from home.

Chocolate ginger Christmas cookies

Guest post written by Breanne Kyle

This Christmas my boyfriend is coming home with me to meet my family. He's also spending some time with his own family, which is just a two-hour drive away though so I guess it won't be as stressful as it could be for him. I'm really sure that it's not going to be that stressful for him because I have a feeling that everyone's going to get along really well.

But anyway, we were wanting to bring some kind of Christmas treat to my family and so I was online looking for something that would be different but that wouldn't be all too hard to prepare. When I was looking up that stuff, i came across some stuff about clearwire wireless internet pricing and after I saw that I decided to change over my internet service to the company. I had been having a lot of trouble with my old internet service so i was glad to find that.

I found the recipe for chocolate ginger Christmas cookies and thought that would be great for us to take.

After the flood

There is eternal wisdom in building on higher ground. However, we cannot just pluck our houses out and move. There are times we would be stuck in the place considering all the conditions. Our house is not on a real high ground, but luckily, we just had a couple of floods through the years. We are still thankful to deal with flood, than fire, where everything will be burned into ash, whereas with flood, the damage is not that huge, as the flood waters usually were just up to the knees.

The issue comes recedes the flood. The first thing we do is to have flood damage assessment Austin to do the evaluation for the flood water damage, as well as assessment and estimates for furniture, home and property repairs and costs, and most importantly, for flood damage insurance claim from our insurance company.

A few times we clean after the flood ourselves, and they were ‘fun’ with every sibling doing the work making it enjoyable and done fast, but now that most of us are out of the home already busy in each other’s lives, we resolve to hire flood damage clean up Austin to spare our parents and young brother from tedious work. We sisters are so glad for companies like the steam team that do emergency service for seven days a week. They don’t just assist flood homeowner victims, but also cleaning service for carpets, air ducts, furnaces, and all other type of cleaning in your home. House damage? They do construction services too. They are more than a cleaning and assessment service, but of full pledge restoration from emergencies like flood.

Nativity set from my pottery class

Guest post written by Lana Rice

A few months ago I finally got the guts to do something that I had wanted to do for a really long time, (I'm talking years). I signed up for a pottery class! I had always thought that it sounded so fun and would be a great way to relieve stress and it is.

During the last class, the teacher told us that this week she was going to have us start working on something holidays-related. So I went online to try and find some ideas for what I could make. As I was looking up that stuff I found this site and after I read through it a bit, I ordered one of the internet packages from it.

Well, the idea that I've decided on is to make a pottery nativity set. I think that it would be a really neat gift to give to my parents for Christmas that they can keep and put up for many holiday seasons to come. I just hope that I'm actually going to be able to have it ready in time to give it to them.

Baby's First NYC

Guest post written by Audrey Simpson

This past weekend, my daughter Jenna brought our lovely grandson Jeffrey to New York. He is now a little toddler, and he's as happy as a lark. They have never brought Jeffery to the city before, so arriving so close to Times Square left a strong impression on the little one. We met them for lunch at the Olive Garden, and our grandson was so well behaved, it was great to spend time with everyone again. I was wearing my new Hearing Aids by Miracle Ear, and I was grateful to clearly hear everyone again.

After lunch, everyone really wanted to see all of the famous New York Christmas displays, so we took our family to Fifth Avenue. My husband pointed out everything and took us Rockefeller center to see the big tree and all the decorations. Our family was pretty blown away by what we saw. Little Jeffrey was in awe, and his father held him high on his shoulders so that he could see above the crowd. My husband and I were so happy to have our family for the weekend and share some of New York with them. We can't wait till they come back for Christmas day.

I enjoyed watching it. I feel for one character in the movie, the boy Eustace. I laughed, and he made me cry, I couldn't help it. He was so good actor, I wish Will Poulter 'more' success in life.

Fat burners for men

Thankfully no one is overweight in our family, especially our dad and our brothers. If one or all of them are, we ladies in the family would make then lose weight together, supply them with all the needed exercise tools and fat burners for men, along with some lectures of how healthy it is to be fit, not just for the heart, but for all of us too, especially one’s own self. Indeed, burning fat can be fun too, and if we look at and feel it that way, it will be very easy to lose weight.

The Sheltering Sky

Skywatch Friday:

Road trip. On our way to Texas last June.
I long for scenes where man hath never trod A place where woman never smiled or wept There to abide with my Creator God And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept, Untroubling and untroubled where I lie The grass below, above, the vaulted sky.

Contemporary furniture

Moving in into a new place is very exciting, never mind that with that feeling comes the reality and somewhat can be difficult time of starting all over again. Or even if you just think of redecorating your house and replacing old furniture with new ones, it can be tedious especially if we don’t have a plan, much less a budget. But I have found a solution to this for my dear friends: the modern and contemporary furniture at Boconcept. I really like the elegant designs, very chic and modern, and fits our budget! I know where we will get ours from too.

Humbling lesson

I I went to town today to buy few groceries and things that I need, and I felt good that I accomplished what I planned for today. It feels good to be back home. However, I heard a very bad news today. The whole family is mourning. I am so crushed, my heart is really wrenched deeply, I am mourning and crying inside. Twelve other lives has been taken away. Looking at the event on the other side, it is a very humbling experience to give back to God the best and everything without reservations, even though it gives so much sadness at the moment and for some time. How could I comfort my sister more?

Fresh, and colorful seafood

Ah, how I missed fresh sea food! Straight from the shores of the 'pearl of the orient seas', you cannot get any fresher fish, not processed nor frozen fishes and food! Seafood is not just my favorite food, it is indeed very good for our health. In the depths of the seas are hidden nutrients the fishes eat, and it is so good sea food for us. I guess I'm just missing home and great food. Not to mention the beach :D

Broadway Blueshirts, the King of New York

Post contributed by Patricia Singleton

I love hockey, but somehow I love the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League even more. They have a rich history, as they were founded in 1926 and have had a number of great players and great teams since then. They haven't won too many Stanley Cups, but when they do win, like 1994, it's sweet.

I love sitting back on my couch, watching the Rangers on my BestChoiceTV, and enjoying my team as they fight for victory. They are led by their goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist, who is one of the top goalies in the game today. Their star forward is Marian Gaborik, a speedy sniper who can bring the fans out of their seats with a simple rush. The team has some established veteran talent, but also has young, up and coming players leading the way. Guys like Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, and Artem Anisimov at forward, Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, and Michael Del Zotto on D, and other players in the Rangers system certainly point to the Rangers having a bright future.

Their coach is John Tortorella, a firebrand who made his reputation as the coach of the championship winning Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004. His style of hockey is fast, aggressive, and exciting, making watching every Rangers game a treat, because you never know what to expect next out of the team.

High quality VGA cables

I have decided to go for it! Our community has asked me to make a video of myself only since I am alone at the moment, and send message to them, as a supporter or primary sponsor of the ministry there. Soon they will celebrate Thanksgiving and one feature is our “video messages” from us members abroad. A lot of people, whom I know and even I do not know, will see it, and I want to make a one big shot at this so there are no embarrassments. :D That means I have to take a high quality video and a nice message. We always want to make our best, don't we?

This is my project for today, and of course I have to review it before I will send the video through email. One thing I am thankful for with regards to this is having high quality vga cables. Everything is at the right timing. You can get the video and audio vga cables with no sales tax at! I just got my new digital video camera/camcorder a couple of months back, and now I'm about to make full use of the vga cables, in a high resolution video message for thanksgiving. There could be no better first use than that, I think.

New York City Wedding

This guest post from Daryl Glass

Lucas and Shelby Wright's wedding was one of the best weddings I have ever attended. It was located at Central Park in New York City, and ten of my close friends flew from Florida and stayed for over a week so we could check out the city after Lucas and Shelby left for their honeymoon. At the airport in Florida we all questioned each other about setting our home security alarm system (ADT Home Security prices)s. Everyone sat theirs so we knew our homes would be safe while we were gone.

Once we got to the New York City we were blown away with how the big the city was and were so excited about seeing Lucas and Shelby get married. Shelby looked beautiful in her dress and and three of us girls were her bridesmaids and we all wore dark blue dresses. I must admit we all looked rather amazing too.

After the wedding ceremony we all went to a local church for their reception and watched Lucas and Shelby open their gifts. I think they were very pleased with the gifts they received and they could not get over how many people had bought them something.

Us girls enjoyed checking out the city, and we are super excited about hopefully attending more weddings in New York City in the future.

The great nut

Fresh coconut juice cure for UTI.

Oh no! Several members of my family has been sick. And just when Christmas is approaching! We don't want to be sick, if we could help it. One way is having a positive mind, that is, over matter. My pregnant sister-in-law is not well. Two year old nephew was recently released from the hospital.

My teenage cousin was also admitted to the hospital for urinary track infection and stomach ulcer. Goodness. I wish I was there to help any way I can. But she is okay now, thank God for the fresh coco nut juice from the coco tree my relatives planted on our lands long time ago. Her kidneys and urinary track has just been relieved from the infection. Yes, when you have urinary tract infection or UTI, drinking fresh coconut juice will cure it, and prevent it if you are just about to have it yet. What better cure than from nature, from plants and trees that grows in our yard, in the Philippines, the all-parts-useful coconut tree.

Blue sky nursing scrubs

I am very proud to have two sisters who have bachelor’s degree in nursing. My eldest sister works in a missionary medical field, and my youngest sister works in pedia, in private. They are both very good in what they do. And they look great in nursing uniform scrubs!

My eldest sister brought with her several medical scrubs. Since going to the field overseas, they have doubled their patients; most just wanting to be taken care of by my sister. However, she has no trouble moving around with her surgical scrubs with the design and fit. The fabric quality is superior and the colors actually make her look beautiful and blooming. Now I am thinking of buying scrubs online as my gifts for them, and for my mom too, who also works as a health volunteer in our community. They deserve the most comfortable surgical scrubs that is why I choose blue sky scrubs for men and women.

Burberry footwear

I have a good collection of shoes, sandals and boots. The other day I was sorting my footwear out and realized that I need some flats. I need some that are appropriate for long walks around the city and also fitting for the weather we have now. I have some shoes from Zappos and I am a testament that the brand is really very durable, dependable and of high quality footwear, true to size and one of the very comfortable shoes around. I looked at the site and sure I found one that is just what I need. The Burberry line of shoes!

My favorites are laced up or strapped weather boots so that we can easily adjust them to our cozy comfort and I found one just like it. The most important factor in buying shoes is the comfort in our feet, and when the shoes will make a statement with their fashionable design and classy look and style, then I am a go! I'm very sure I will also love this shoe, as I have liked the Zappos products, for all seasons, whether sexy high heeled shoes and sandals or flats.

Green gift for my girlfriend

Guest post written by Brent Call

Even though I recycled before, my girlfriend has really gotten me into going green since we started dating. I guess that bad habits aren't the only kind of habits that are contagious. It's probably because we're together all the time, but she's also made some adjustments to my apartment that are more green, like replacing regular old light bulbs with more energy efficient ones.

So, for Christmas this year I really want to impress her by buying her a gift that's green that she'll love. I went online to try and find some ideas about what to get her when I saw these New York clear internet offers that looked pretty good, so I think I might sign me and my roommate up for one of them.

Then I got a really good idea to give her a green DIY gift, because that would be even more green if I took something and then changed it around instead of buying something new. What that's going to be, I'm not sure but I think that I'll figure something out.

Yes! I dropped them off the charity house that sells stuff for a cheap price, for a worthy cause. They were good reads that I have to give knowing it will enrich those who will come to get their hands on the books and their eyes on the writings. Now my things are organized, spaced reclaimed, and I feel good, and free! If you also have some clutter, or want to free some space on your shelves, try donating them to non-profit organizations or better yet, sell 'em books! There is actually a site where you can sell and even exchange media with other owners.

How I became and Islanders Fan

Contribution by Elmo Farmer

I've always felt that my father made me the sports fan that I am today. As a young child I have great memories of sitting and watching big football games or the World Series with him. Generally the teams that I follow today are ones that I inherited from him. The one sport that doesn't hold true to is hockey.

I grew up in New York City in Queens. During football season we went to New York Giant games, during baseball season we went to Mets game and during the winter we went to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks play basketball or the Rangers play hockey. I still love all of those teams, except the Rangers. My Dad has not really forgiven me because I have abandoned the New York Rangers and now root for their rival New York Islanders.

He calls me a front runner even now all these years later but how could a kid growing up in the area not love the Islanders teams that were winning four straight Stanley Cups between 1980 and 1984? They had amazing players too; Denis Potvin, Mike Bossy, Clark Gillies, Bryan Trottier who have all made the Hall of Fame. My favorite player was Bobby Nystrom who scored in overtime when the Islanders won the first of the four Cups. Now we both live out of the New York area but we both watch the games on our satellite TV services from and call each other to fight during Rangers-Islanders games.

Childhood Friends

The Author of this post is Velma Baird

When I was in my teens, I had two best friends. They were actually sisters and their names were Rachel and Gabby. We used to hang out almost every single day. We were all home schooled and our mothers liked to allow us to study and work together in school. I used to love going by their house because they had a trampoline and a hot tub. We would often bounce around on the trampoline all day and then spend the evening in the hot tub. I have a lot of good memories from my childhood because of my sisterly best friends.

As we got older, we kind of drifted apart. Our mothers no longer had anything in common and because of that, we would not get to see each other on a regular basis. I'm still somewhat in touch with the sisters though. In fact, about a month ago, I made sure to set my Adt home security alarm before I left and went to visit Rachel at her apartment in New Jersey. We still have a few things in common, but we didn't "click" like we did when we were kids. It's actually kind of sad how things can change in just a matter of years. Sometimes I wish I had my childhood back, just so I can still be close with my best friends.

An Anniversary Dinner

Guest post written by Missy Allen

Last night my husband and I had our 30th anniversary in New York City. We took a weekend getaway to see the sights and celebrate our big day in true fashion. We spent most of time in midtown and downtown. However, we made several stops in the lower east side to see a few of our old friends. When it came close to dinner time, we started walking around Times Square to see what we could find for restaurants. Many places looked good, but too many places looked cramped with long waits. We went in a few restaurants, and they were so congested and loud that we didnÕt care to stay. I had to turn down my HearingAidsbyMiracleEar almost immediately.

After walking around for over an hour we stumbled to the Olive Garden, an old favorite. The restaurant was three stories, so we space was not really an issue and it provided for a better atmosphere. Our restaurant selection may not have been high-end new york cuisine, but we were thrilled for the opportunity to great and familiar dining experience while overlooking the big city.

Someone say water polo in New York City?

Guest post written by my buddy Brian Workman

I have been interested in water polo for the last twenty years of my adult life. With the advent of the internet in the last fifteen years, it has been especially easy to find others in my area of Queens who are interested in playing the sport. The sport first caught my eye in the Olympics and now I play in an adult water polo league that features both mixed gender and separate gender leagues. Most of our matches are played at either a YMCA or one of the several universities in NYC. Before leaving for any match or practice, I make sure to set my home security alarm (Home Security Baltimore pricing). The city can be a dangerous place for possessions such as a water polo ball or two hundred dollar goggles, so I take good care of them. I have enjoyed participating in adult league water polo not only because of my love for the sport but also because of fantastic physical fitness regimen I have acquired. Swimming laps can be boring and tedious but in water polo you are constantly "changing gears" the way a point guard in basketball or a midfielder in soccer must. This type of anabolic training keeps me trim and fit for when playoffs come around. Generally the regular season lasts twelve weeks and playoffs last close to three weeks.

Law and Order is my Favorite

Guest written by our friend Katie Callahan

The original Law and Order has gone down in television history for its intriguing characters, unexpected plot twists and likable, relate-able characters. You would be hard pressed to find a person today that has not seen at least original episode of Law and Order. It is on television daily in re-runs after twenty years of new episodes. It is set and filmed in New York City and was created by Director Dick Wolf. This show is so easy to relate to and become enthralled in because it often takes its stories straight out of the news papers. It uses real life crimes and portrays them in a way that is interesting to the views and keeps us entertained year after year. It has gone through several different cast members over the years but the one that remains in everyones hearts and minds is Detective Lenny Briscoe played by Jerry Orbach. His signature one liners at the beginning of the show are what I have grown to look forward too. I also love that the original Law and Orders allows us to see what goes on inside the court room. It does not stop at solving the crime but follows the story out to the very end. I love watching Law and order on satellite tv from It offers such a clear picture that I never miss a minute.

Nonetheless, there is something about watching hockey on high definition that the other sports can't seem to match in intensity. While I am not familiar with the strategic aspects of the game, when I watch Joe Thornton smash some poor fool into the glass partition I am suffused with the glee of a teenage girl who just saw Justin Bieber lick his lips. I think that in time I will learn to love hockey, and it is all thanks to my NHL Center Ice package on satellite TV.

On my high definition big screen, I am not ashamed to watch grown men skate and beat each other's brains out like rabid animals. After all, in between the violence, there is some glorious skating, as men ice dance there way across a rink and elegantly flick pucks into a net guarded by Jason Voorhees. It is just the right balance of grace, violence, and slasher horror that both me and my wife can enjoy. Truly none of the other sports can match hockey's dichotomy of strengths, and it is all the more evident when I watch these large men on ice on my high definition TV from

My sister-in-law

I I feel for my sister-in-law. She is expecting and recently was brought to the hospital because she was not feeling good. I wish I could bear her pain so that she'll be okay and the baby won't be affected. Must be terrible she was crying silently. I can overcome them all, I just want my sister-in-law spared from sickness especially while pregnant.

Reading the Candace Bushnell libarary

Guest post written by Ella Barton

I've been a fan of Sex and the City since it premiered on TV on HBO. But so many years later, I'm just now starting to read all of her books. One of my friends gave me the book that the TV show and movies were based on for my birthday a few months ago and I started from there.

So after I finished doing that I thought it was my duty as a fan to read the rest of all of her books. When I was ordering them off line I found some info about this wireless internet service and decided to click here and go ahead and order it.

I think that now I have every Candace Bushnell book that's ever been published. I'm reading the novel Trading Up and I'm really enjoying it. It's about this actress and/or model that is so obsessed with raising in popularity in the New York City social scene and is Victoria's Secret model. But she's always looking to find someone to marry so that she can trade up for a richer partner.

More Birthday Fun

Guest post written by John Maits

For my 63rd birthday, my loving family brought me into the heart of Times Square for a dinner at the Hard Rock Café. It was really special because my family knows I have this thing about visiting different Hard Rocks across the country—and this was definitely next on the list! While many are stylized and very unique, this particular Hard Rock had to be one of the flashiest that I’ve attended. It’s really hard to top the glitz and glamour of New York City. I was thrilled to be able to attend this particular location.

While my family doesn’t get overly excited, I enjoy being surrounded by the music and memorabilia of my favorite classic rock artists. Going throughout the restaurant, I got to see a lot of Beatles items, and that was really fantastic to see. The experience really made me glad that I went to a week so that I would be able to really enjoy the music that they have going. In all, I had a really great birthday. I have a wonderful and thoughtful family, and they really do know me very well.

Christmas in the Big Apple

Guest post written by Gale Witherspoon

It’s finally November and I am starting to get exciting for my favorite time of year in New York: Christmas Time. When I go out for my weekend strolls around the city, I can’t help but notice that the season is starting to change. A very brisk wind whips its way throughout the streets and I can feel that winter is emerging. I have already noticed people starting to bundle up in their gloves, scarves and heavy jackets. My favorite time of year is finally on its way, and I couldn’t be more ready to be a part of it.

While going around the city, I was able to overhear several conversations with my new HearingAidsbyMiracleEar. I heard some people talk about the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, and it reminded me that the lighting ceremony is at the end of the month. I’m definitely going to show up for the event. I also really hope that my daughter brings the grandkids to the city this year so I can show them the wonder that I’ve been experiencing all these years.

Ang gaba di magsaba

We are accountable and responsible for everything that we do, aren't we? It's a fact of life, that we will reap what we sow, in multi fold times. If we follow Judas' footsteps and betray the person we should not by virtue of the sacred bond, in the same manner we will be betrayed one day, but more in intensity. There is a thing called karma. One way or another you will have to pay for your betrayal, habitual lying and cheating.

But to those who has been victims of these lying and cheating around, there is still so much life ahead of us, even way much much better! There are things in the world that are never meant to be, but hold on, be still faithful and know that your real soul mate is also pure and honest like you. One day you will be grateful the insecure man cheated on you, he will always lie and cheat anyway, no matter who is he with. Hold your head high, you are not guilty, be strong and take courage, smile and be prettier still. It's not our loss.

People can look as much as they like, but it sure feels so good to smile, even to strangers, and especially to servers who have had a long day! Walking in Central Park

Author: Joseph Sandoval

In the fall, I think one of my favorite activities would have to be walking along the beautiful trees in Central Park in New York. This is one of the loveliest times to walk in Central Park in New York, even inspiring the name of the movie "Autumn in New York." Autumn in New York is truly a beautiful time.

Walking along the gorgeous trees with browned leaves in autumn is a great activity for two romantics. One of the best dates can be simply grabbing a cup of hot cider and taking a walk in Central Park. Imagine the great conversations one can have walking along the gorgeous streets of Central Park. One can feel completely comfortable talking about anything being surrounded by the beauty of autumn, with a romantic interest, and a great cup of hot apple cider. I have seen some of the best dates in New York be had by two people that opted for a simple date of walking around Central Park, rather than a date such as going to some rock concert or shopping on 5th Avenue (although that is fun too!).

Whenever I go on a date in Central Park, I am always sure to set the besthomesecurity home security alarm system in my home. It is a simple thing one should remember, and that will give a person peace of mind for a date in the city!

But I am sure there are still few honest fast weight loss pills that are safe and really work to aid in your losing weight, along with proper diet and exercise, which should have been enough.

Rock of Love Rocks My Reality World

Contribution by Michale Greer

VH1's Rock of Love featuring Brett Michaels is definetly my favorite reality show of all time. It doesn't really matter what season it was, watching Brett Michaels smooze all the women, and the drama the girls start with eachother is just plain awesome. Especially when Daisy comes in to the picture! The competitions were fabulous, fun and sexy.

VH1's Rock of Love is reality t.v. for both men and women. It's not just another reality t.v. show. Rock of Love combines two things that guys love and that's beautiful women and rock n' roll! I wasn't always a fan of reality t.v. until I sat down and watched Rock of Love with my wife one night. I saw Brett Michaels and was like, " No way! Brett Michaels has his own reality t.v. show?", and I was hooked!

I think if the television companies made more reality shows based on rock n' roll stars, more guys would sit down and watch. Guys love beautiful women. They love rock n' roll. Most do not like reality television. Rock of Love had something for everyone and I recommend it to all especially while watching on tv service from

The City DOES Sleep

Guest post written by Daniel Ogden

The city of New York is full of sights and sounds, and no matter how many times I visit here, it never gets boring to me. I’ve been coming to visit here for more than 20 years and I assure you that you could be here a lifetime and never see and do everything.

My mother, brother and cousins still live up this way, so I come up several times a year to spend some quality time with them. I have always loved this city since it’s a real pleasure to visit.

This last time, I arrived really early in the morning—and let me tell you, it was eerily quiet. I have never heard the city sit still for that long! I wondered if I was going to have to go get a hearing test in new york, since it was so unnatural! It ended up just being normal—my brother says that used to get to him, too, when he commuted to his job in Jersey City early in the morning.

Spending time with my family was great as always. We all want down to Little Italy together and ate real well down there. No matter how many times I come, I always love going there. New York is the best city on earth, and I hope I can come back here for another 20 years.

Look at the leaves

Guest post written by Dwight Harris

This is one fo the times of the year that I really do love living in the mountains. By now this time of the year all the leaves on the trees are changing colors into all kinds of different colors of yellow, orange and reds that when I drive around my town it feels like I'm driving through a painting because everything just looks so beautiful!

I also love to take pictures of all the beautiful scenes so once all of them are all kinds of colors I take pictures of them. But this year I wanted to share them with some of my friends that live across the country in cities and don't get to see all of this. I had found a while back and switched over my internet service to it. So I just emailed them pictures of the pretty leaves and I got almost immediate responses with my friends telling me just how pretty they looked, which of course I knew. I guess you could say that when I do that they wished that they live where I do.

Wearing Away Team Attire

Posted by Dorian Compton

How brave are you? You might be able to tell some amazing stories of how you showed incredible courage, but unless you have ever gone to a New England Patriots game wearing New York Jets attire, you don't know bravery (excluding any military scenarios). I thought it would be cool to go to Gillette Stadium wearing my Sanchez jersey. Yeah that went over well. From the second I stepped off the train, I was bombarded by people swearing and throwing food at me. I ducked and dodged as best I could, but by the time I entered the stadium, I was filled with ketchup and mustard from head to toe. I immediately went to the bathroom to clean up. My clothes were stained, but at least I would be somewhat comfortable. Luckily, I found my way to my seats at the top of the stadium, where thousands of other Jets fans cheered for the green and white. Once there, I felt safe. However, leaving the stadium wasn't easy. Two different grown men approached me and offered to fight. I guess they were drunk. I just ignored them and made my way home. It was tough to leave my jersey on, but I did. From that day on, I decided to stick to watching the Jets-Patriots games on my satellite tv from tvbydirect. It's a lot cleaner and safer.

NYC on the cheap

Guest post written by Britney Woods

For years I dreamed of moving to NYC and I finally did it a few weeks ago. After so many interviews, I was finally offered a job and I snatched it right up.

I save up a whole lot of money before my move and have been pretty frugal since I got here. I even looked up Wireless Internet Clear plans and got one. But that's given me a great way to look up a bunch of free stuff to do.

On Saturday me and my friends who just moved here too went exploring around the island and didn't spend any money except on our Metro cards. But we have the monthly fees paid anyway so it was practically free! We ended up going to Battery Park and took in a bunch of the sights, like the financial district, the Statue of Liberty and all the people that draw charicatures and try to sell you counterfeit designer goods.

Every Saturday I want to go sightseeing a little bit so I can take in a little more of the City that I was so determined to move to.

Goodbye. A wonderful book by Joshua Harris. He gives insight on how we should approach dating, in a better and different way that the modern dating culture. It is not 'collect and select'. Others date because everybody does, others to show the person you have had relationship with, their replacement, maybe even before the relationship was over. It is not healthy, and very selfish really. But as for me, from experience, true love waits, in the right time, the right place and in an amazing circumstance in our lives. While you wait be refined and be prepared to meet your soul mate whom you can feel an instant unbreakable connection with. Ah, isn't love the grandest thing on earth, that it motivates you to give all of your soul without conditions and reservations, inspires you from the depths of your heart to be better and worthy of him/her, where everything will be about sharing, giving, caring and loving, openness and helping the other person grow, both of you, together. After all, it is your real soul mate who will stick with you to the very end. That's why they're call "life partner", and not just for the good times.

Pilot brother

I I am super excited for my youngest brother. He is 16, and he has just made his first flight, as a pilot that is, and yeah, real first flight. He has a student pilot license already and of course, a pilot instructor was with him on that flying session. I am so happy and proud for him, when I asked how did he felt, he was so relaxed and said that it's just like operating a computer, lol. By the way his instructor is super young too, when it was safe, he took picture of my brother up in the air. Super cool looking at the view below him. I thank God for His wonderful works. I pray they will always be safe, all of our loved ones.

W We were in high school when my dad prepared the plan. Then I often would unroll the blueprints, of course after asking for permission, to see the details of the building, our house, to read what he was thinking, and I admit it, to know ahead, not that my siblings were very interested on bar sizes and such things. My dad has been very detailed, complete to every small element, even the design, color or type of mosaic tiles that he then so carefully and industriously put himself. He is the best dad on earth and I am so proud of his artistic abilities. In the end, the beautiful mosaic tiles were of course, so worth of all his efforts.

I have a little obsession with the color purple, green and yellow these days. Of course top faves are red and sky blue, but sure be nice to have wardrobe color variety. Anyway, several days ago I was at the food plot and I saw this weed; it's purple! Ah, it is so lovely; days before that it was all green, until now it has not turned yellow, lol, if it ever will. If we just stop sometimes, smell the roses and all its 'cousin' flowers, take close look at every creature, you'll be amazed at just how beautifully made they are, for your eyes and heart's delight, that is, stress reliever, a natural one.

My New Orleans adventure

Guest post written by Julie Porter

I had played around with the idea of traveling to New Orleans for a long time. Then I was devastated when Hurricane Katrina happened, for those people that suffered because of it and I was afraid that I’d never get to travel there and experience the city like I had always wanted. But this summer I finally ventured there with a few friends.

I had done plenty of research for it because I had started planning the trip years ago. Some of the highlights were shopping on Magazine Street and visiting the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. But the most fun thing was the vampire tour we went on. It was basically like any other ghost tour in a U.S. historic city, except this one was about vampires. I was glad that I had gone and to and bought some hearing aides a few months ago because my friend Clarice that went with me had a tough time hearing our tour guide talk.

We’ve already decided on the things that we’re going to see next time and want to go back in a few years.

Yard watch

This was one of the crows that have been lurking around the house. One just wonder what is in the yard that attracts them all of a sudden, all I know is that they've been in the woods at the back of the house. If one is superstitious, he/she would try to find meaning or explanation why the black cunning birds are around, ha. Anyway I'm not.

My First Child

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

Three years ago I found out I was pregnant and did not know the first thing about having a child. I was really excited to have my first child, but needed some information. I turned to to go online and search for everything I needed to know about my pregnancy and my first child to be. I signed up with many different websites to get updates on my pregnancy and where I should be during that particular trimester. I also joined many social networks to talk to other mothers who were pregnant with their first child, and even mothers who had much experience when it came to bearing children.

I am glad I was able to find many different resources online, from what I was supposed to be feeling, what I should eat to keep my child healthy, and even how I should feel when I go into labor. After three years I still get emails from some of these sites. They give me tips for raising my son, such as what I am supposed to do when it comes to potty training. Who would have thought that the internet would be so helpful when it came to having a baby.

It was such a poor bird we found in the woods, and we knew something was wrong with it staying on the ground. We were curious about it of course. My heart was 'broken' when I found out that one of it's wings was broken! I didn't see who attacked it, but I don't like the sight of crows around here these last several weeks.

Surveillance system

S Since Mr. Sam died, security video camera units have been installed around the in-laws’ premises and properties. All of those were to ‘monitor’ who has been or would be lurking around his properties and steal his stuff. The number one they expect to do the stealing was a familiar person, but since he is locked up now, that issue was eliminated, as well as the anxiety or fear of what will be. But we never know, since some people would do bad and abusive things when they find out someone just died and only an old woman, defenseless and vulnerable, is left in the house. And because of that, the sons also took care of the home surveillance system and alarm for security. She usually sleeps so sound that nothing can disturb her, but mother-in-law can rest and stay in the house more peacefully now, but of course, equally peaceful are we around her knowing she is ‘safe’.

The security cameras were equipped with a large capacity memory cards so it is still good this time, and since nothing seemed amiss, perhaps they will let it motion capture some more photos. Lately I had been looking into these surveillance systems and monitors, and would we still be surprised of what are available now with all the gadgetry and digital systems to our safety and advantage from home security team. It’s amazing. There is also a backup battery and equipment guide from police home security handbook available for your reference.

In everything

F For everything we should give thanks, good or bad, for if we are wise enough, we know that the hardships and pain we have at present are for our good, in the future. In everything we should give thanks, not complain in every chance you see. Those who always complain, the habitual or chronic complainers will not find contentment and peace in their hearts; I would advise to 'stop a while and take a deep breath, see the positive side of things, take time to listen and appreciate the one around you, and you will find happiness inside yourself. It is good to see the positive, and not dwell on the negative and destructive self-righteousness. All of us make mistakes, and it helps if we find understanding and acceptance from others when we stumble and fall and make mistakes, and when we need their encouragement and support the most, and not hearing any complaints.
