Happy Holidays

It was not a very happy Christmas for us because of the problem we are facing with regards to papa’ health. It is not easy to accept things that you really don’t expect. However, this is not an excuse that we cannot thank God for all the things He has done. For we all know that everything happens for a reason. He indeed the reason for the season. New year is only 1 day to go. I thank the Lord for the year 2017 for all the things happened to us God is always there to help us in all our endeavors. My wish for now is for my dad’s complete recovery and restore his health to the fullest. Happy new year everyone!

The Application of Physics in Our Daily Lives

The Application of Physics in Our Daily Lives

For some students, Physics is an intimidating subject. Physics, being the science of how things work makes it a diverse and complex subject as it deals with matter, energy, motion and force, their properties and how they interact with each other. We may not realize how much physics is involved in our daily lives, but as parents or teacher, we can make each of our students realize just how much physics is applied daily.

Learning about Physics and acing the exams may be intimidating or even be a bit daunting for students who could be struggling in the subject. Tutorial schools such as Smile Tutor can offer just the right amount of guidance and teaching to help students chase their fears away and be confident in taking up the lessons and exams that comes with it. By visiting their website or sending a physics tutor request at https://smiletutor.sg/physics-tuition/, you get to receive vital information on how we can help you or your child with our tutoring services.

So, how does Physics affect our daily lives?

When you drink a cup of hot coffee, chocolate or tea, we use heat. Heating is increasing the temperature of water, in this case. Heating is used in many industries, such as creating materials from jewelry to tools to big manufacturers creating engines and car parts. In cooking, our food undergoes chemical reactions under heat which is then converted to mechanical energy.

When you make an ice cream, it undergoes what we call a freezing point and demonstrates a wide variety of phenomena. These may include Boyle’s Law, Newton’s Law of Cooling and young’s Modulus. Who knew that a simple ice cream making can involve such Physics?

When you walk or jog, the motion or movement is part of the laws of thermodynamics and mechanics. You don’t slip or fall down because of traction or friction which is the roughness or resistance caused by the road surface and soles of our shoes. If you slip, let’s say because of a wet floor or even a banana peel, you experience reduced friction. The use of brakes also uses friction.

Fruits, such as apples fall from the tree to the ground, and when we jump, we don’t go as high and easily fall back because of the earth’s gravity or gravitational pull that draws us back to the surface. Balloons, however, are lighter than air, and that’s what makes them float.

When we hear the sound of an alarm, listen to music or when we speak, we produce sound properties which are studied in physics. The technological advances we get to enjoy are all designed on the principles of physics such as smartphones, computers, airplanes, televisions and much more. Anything that involves heat, sound, electricity, magnetism etc. are all connected to physics.

There are much more applications of physics in our daily lives than what meets the eye. Like what they always say, this is only the tip of the iceberg. By learning and understanding howPhysics works, you get to understand how the world around us works and answers all the what, why, how where and when.
